Manufacturers of Architectural Cast Stone
Cast Stone is a versatile and cost-effective building material suitable for both traditional and contemporary designs. At Thorverton Stone, we manufacture a wide range of architectural cast stone pieces for use in residential, commercial, and landscaping projects, where it is often used as a substitute for natural stone.
We offer our customers, whether they are architects, designers, or DIY / self-builders, complete freedom in their work through our custom manufacturing service, which utilizes innovative processes and materials. Dimensions, color, and finish can all be adapted to meet our customers needs, and we are more than happy to provide guidance and advice on the most effective ways to achieve their goals.
Our specialty lies in manufacturing cast stone products that meet our customers specific dimensional requirements. We understand that many houses have windows and doors of different sizes that do not conform to standard dimensions. We also recognize that garden walls may not be measured to fit standard-length coping, and gate piers are constructed with aesthetics in mind rather than adhering to certain pier cap sizes.
Pier Caps are stones used to cap piers or gate pillars. They can either serve as a standalone cap or as a base for a ball finial, light, or other decorative feature. Our pier caps are typically wider than the piers they are designed to fit, with an additional 50mm of width on all four sides at the bottom edge being the standard. The overall width may exceed this, depending on the design.
Coping Stones are used to cap free-standing walls, providing both protection from the weather and an appealing finish. They are often matched in style and seamlessly integrate with our pier caps. We manufacture three main types of coping stones, all of which can be customized in terms of width and length. Simply let us know the width of your wall, and we will suggest a suitable coping width.
We offer two main types of window cills or sills, which are chosen based on the type of wall, window frame, and personal preference. Our cast stone window cills include stooled cills and slip cills.
Thorverton Stone porticos enhance the appearance of properties and add value to homes. We have six standard designs that are easy to construct. Our beams are reinforced, our columns are solid and load-bearing, requiring no additional support, and our coping stones are designed to fit smoothly on top of the beam.
Choose from our standard single-skin or more thermally efficient double-skin window surrounds. Our window surrounds include cills, jambs, heads, mullions, transoms, and label moulding. Mullions and transoms are used for multi-pane windows, and the label moulding is an optional item for any window or door opening, not just window surrounds.
Our cast stone Heads replicate natural stone lintels and are installed above windows, doors, and other openings in walls. They can be either reinforced or purely decorative, and we offer several different designs to choose from.
Both inside and outside a property, our cast stone door surrounds provide strength, security, and originality to any building.
Quoin stones are traditionally placed in the corners of buildings, adding detail and complementing the brickwork or render. They also provide weather protection and structural support.
Our range of garden sculptures, originally designed by The Landscape Ornament Company, adds beauty to any garden or patio. Check out the slideshow for details on each piece.
Our cast stone steps are a fantastic addition to gardens, porticos, or property entrances. Whether internal or external, any area that requires steps will benefit from their visually appealing impact and sturdy construction.
Balustrading is decorative stonework used in various locations around buildings and landscapes, including rooftops, portico tops, patio edges, and garden steps. Our stone balustrading adds value and enhances the appearance of your property.
